Explore the Outdoors
We have a wonderful selection of materials for scientists young and old to explore the world around them. Sticky Slides and the Brock Magiscope® make perfect companions to view dry specimens. Just peel off the blue film, place the specimen on the slide, stick the slide on the portable microscope with built-in fiber-optic light source and you’re ready for a close up look at hundreds of specimens. Rinse the slides in water. Air-dry and the Sticky Slide is ready to use again and again.
Maybe you prefer wooded trails and water life. Take the path less traveled deep into the woods and take a dip from a cool pond. Make a few tests on site or bring your treasures to the lab for a closer look at the microscopic creatures that lurk just below the surface. You’re surrounded by skyscrapers? No problem. Stroll down the concrete path of your favorite park. Find some pooling water or a small stream and discover the creatures of the deep that thrive in the urban jungle water. Here are a few of our favorite tools for aquatic exploration.
Use our Nasco Swing Sampler to collect specimens. Begin your field study with The Pond Test Kit. Then take a closer look in the lab with a Petri dish and the Nasco Advanced Stereo Microscope.
Launch High Levels of Learning with Rockets
You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to launch higher levels of learning in your classroom. Use our very own beginning water rocket class set or select from our favorite Estes rockets for an explosion of math and science experiments. Students become teams of aeronautic technicians when they design their own experiments, then construct the very tools necessary to observe, collect data, and verify their own hypothesis. Validate Newton’s Three Laws of Motion and observe the impact of gravity, thrust, drag, and lift. Make altitude measuring devices to calculate the height of flight using angular distance, baseline, and the tangent of the angle. Or investigate aerodynamics and the effects of payload. Click here to browse our broad selection of rockets and support materials to find the Estes Rocket Model that best fits your experience level and educational goals. Here are a few of our favorites.
