What is Growing Healthy®?
Growing Healthy® is a school-based, comprehensive health education curriculum designed to address the pressing health education needs of students in grades K-6.
Growing Healthy® is the result of three decades of extensive testing, evaluations, revisions, and updates. Growing Healthy® was developed with funding from the U.S. Public Health Service and originally tested as the School Health Curriculum Project (SHCP). Study after study has confirmed that comprehensive health education and, in particular, the National Center for Health Education's Growing Healthy® curriculum effectively promotes the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors our students need to grow into healthy adults.
Growing Healthy® is a developmentally appropriate, comprehensive school health education curriculum that has been implemented in rural, urban, and suburban schools throughout the United States since its inception. Growing Healthy® not only meets, but exceeds the standards and performance indicators set forth in the National Health Education Standards. |
