WEARABLE ART USING
CRAYOLA® FABRIC CRAYONS
Wearable art has been popular for years.
However, it is challenging to do fabric painting with young children.
The answer is Crayola® Fabric Crayons, 3500179.
Fabric crayons allow children to draw
their design on white paper and, when they are satisfied, the design
is transferred to the fabric by an adult.
Fabric crayons will produce permanent,
machine-washable results when applied to synthetic fabric.
This is a fun project for children. Try
it soon.
PROCEDURES:
1. Children draw design on newsprint or computer paper.
Remind children that any letters or numbers must be drawn in reverse. 2. Fabric should be made of 100% synthetic fibers or have
at least 60% synthetic content. Pre-wash fabric and do not use
fabric softener. 3. Brush any loose particles from paper. 4. In a well-ventilated area, put the fabric on a stack
of newspapers with a plain sheet of white paper closest to the fabric.
If transferring onto a shirt, put a white sheet of paper inside
the shirt as well to keep the design from bleeding onto the back. 5. Put design facedown on fabric. Put another sheet of white
paper on top of design sheet. 6. Use a "no steam" iron on cotton setting. 7. Use slow, steady pressure - lift iron to move. 8. When design begins to show through the back of the paper,
check the transfer by lifting one corner. 9. That's all! It's that easy! 10. Remind parents that items are machine-washable but should
not be bleached or placed in the dryer. ORDERING INFORMATION:
