E-Z DECORATOR™ Furniture and Room Planner

Over 1,100 Hand-drawn Illustrations printed onto static-cling vinyl decals in 1/4" scale showing overhead (bird's eye) views of furniture, accessories and architectural elements. Drawings represent specific styles such as bergere chairs, camelback sofas, Tiffany chandeliers and sisal rugs. The Planner comes in a 3-Ring Binder with a selection of flooring patterns, a 1/4" scale ruler, a wet-erase marker and one layout grid.

How To Use the E-Z DECORATOR™ Design and Decorating System In the Classroom

The E-Z DECORATOR™ System can be used successfully in small and large classrooms for up to 32 students. For more then 32 students, we recommend ordering more than one system. It is easy to divide the drawings so that all students work effectively.

The drawings in the binder are divided into tabbed sections according to their categories such as Architectural Elements, Window Coverings, Accessories, Upholstery, Casegoods, Dining Room, Bedroom, Juvenile Nursery, etc. Simply divide the pages by tabbed section, then remove and insert them into smaller binders (not included); you can mark the binders with the name of the category of drawings for easy reference.

The E-Z DECORATOR™ System includes a glossary/pictorial page with the same artwork (and also style descriptions) as the artwork found on the decal pages. Make copies of these pictorial pages so you will have a booklet of the drawings to hand out to each student. The students can then pre-select the drawings they want to use before they go to the individual binders (with the decals); this cuts down on the time they need to select the drawings they want to use and they can quickly return to their seats.

The students place the drawings onto their grid and assemble them into illustrations at their desks.

Up to three students can team up to share one standard grid (8-1/2" x 11") as there are three attached overlays. For example, working on the first over lay, student #1 can position the architectural elements at the back of the wall (elevations); student #2 can position the accessories for the room on the final overlay, and student #3 can position the accessories for the room or the final overlay.

Larger layout grids (11" x 17") can also be purchased. It is recommended that each classroom have at least one large grid for teacher demonstrations or for students who may want to work on larger layouts such as commercial spaces, hotels, larger residences, etc.

Once the layouts are completed, they can be copied and returned to the students for colored rendering (if class time permits). We recommend that before students can color their copies they must remove all decal drawings from their grids and return them to the appropriate pages in the binders. This method works very well as an incentive for students to take appropriate care of this tool by making sure the decals are replaced.

The Deluxe I, II and III E-Z DECORATOR™ Systems include more drawings than the Standard E-Z DECORATOR™ System- the more drawings the students have, the more creative they can be. The supplements can be added to the Standard E-Z DECORATOR™ System at any time.

The Kitchen Supplement and Bath Supplement allow students to design these important areas of the home. Simply divide these drawings up in the same way as suggested above.

How to use the E-Z DECORATOR™ Furniture and Room Planner In the Classroom

This layout tool for overhead floorplans and furniture placement is a wonderful way for students to create traffic patterns and furniture groupings in 1/4" scale. One planner can be used successfully in small or large classrooms. As with the E-Z DECORATOR™ Design and Decorating System, there are pictorial pages that can be copied to aid students in pre-selecting their drawings and make efficient use of their time.

The planner layout grid is printed on two sides, making it easily shared by 2-4 students. Student can assemble a layout on one side and simply turn it over for the next team to work on. Additional planner grids are recommended for large classes.

Making photocopies is easy and they can be colored if time permits.
